October is Red Ribbon month! Red Ribbon week is celebrated Oct. 23-31 every year. It is an alcohol, tobacco, smoking, and other drug and violence prevention awareness campaign. Red Ribbon week was started after the death of Drug Enforcement Administration Special Agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena, who lost his life investigating drug trafficking in Mexico. As a tribute, the red ribbon was worn to show opposition to drugs. This month we are advocating for living life drug free and spreading awareness to our communities and families. To take the pledge to live drug free and honor those individuals who have lost their lives in the fight against drugs/addictions.

✧ Tina Oluyi ✧
Program Director of Parents as Teachers
at Child & Family Resources
|
|
Tina Oluyi, M. A., is a program director of the Parents as Teachers Early Intervention Program at Child and Family Resources. She oversees a team of five parent educators in Maricopa County. The program works with families with children with developmental delays that are not receiving services with the Arizona Early Intervention Program (AzEIP) or special education preschool. Parents or caregivers are shown strategies to help their child reach their milestones and connected to resources in the community.
Her wonderful work showcases the exact beliefs that Child and Family Resources holds. We are giving her the spotlight on her new publication on Raising Special Kids, “Child Care Success”.

Valeria Vilomar
Administrative Assistant
CCR&R
“On September 15, 2024, I had the incredible opportunity to walk on Chase Field before the Diamondbacks game as part of the Puerto Rican Heritage Celebration on Roberto Clemente Day. After being so far from home, it was heartwarming to experience a piece of Puerto Rico right here in Arizona. The field was filled with joy, lively music, and delicious food, and it felt amazing to connect with other Puerto Ricans who share the same pride and love for our culture and beautiful island”

Scott Riggs
Facilitator
TISAPP (Trauma-Informed Substance Abuse Prevention Program)
“TISAPP’s Prevention Facilitator, Scott Riggs, delivered a Trauma-Informed RX360 Substance Misuse and Naloxone training at the Phoenix BCBSAZ office as part of their Community Collective Event on 9-18-24. This training received high praise from those who attended in person as well as in follow up emails from the virtual attendees across the state. Following the training, Scott was interviewed about the importance of program like ours that deliver education about substance misuse and how to stop an overdose. Attendees received free medication locking bags and boxes of nasal spray Narcan.”
