June is National Pride Month
Our very own Wendy Puga, Vice President for Family and Community Services, shared with us this beautiful excerpt and what WE as a community stand for:
June is National Pride Month-it is a celebration and a time to honor LGBTQIA2S+ identity, diversity, and rights. This month we celebrate and honor all those individuals who have stood up for what they believe in, the commemoration recognizes those who identify as LGBTQIA2S+
This month serves as a powerful reminder of the progress made and the work that still lies ahead in ensuring everyone, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity, can live authentically and without any fear.
Pride Month commemorates the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in New York City, a pivotal moment in the LGBTQIA2S+ rights movement. Since then, countless brave individuals have paved the way for greater understanding, acceptance, and legal protections. Their courage inspires us to continue this important work.
At CFR, we believe that diversity is our strength. Our commitment to fostering an inclusive environment where all employees feel valued, respected, and empowered to be their true selves is unwavering. We recognize that our differences—whether in sexual orientation, gender identity, race, ethnicity, ability, or background—enrich our workplace, drive innovation, and reflect the diverse communities we serve.
This Pride Month, we encourage everyone to:
- Learn: Take time to educate yourself about LGBTQIA2S+ history, issues, and experiences.
- Listen: Hear the stories ofLGBTQIA2S+ colleagues, friends, and community members.
- Support: Be an ally. Stand up against discrimination and support LGBTQ+ rights.
Remember, Pride isn’t just a month—it’s a commitment to equality that extends throughout the year. Let’s work together to ensure that CFR is a place where every individual can thrive.
Happy Pride Month! Let’s celebrate the beauty of being exactly who we are.
