Latest Legislative Update!
Arizona’s abortion ban is repealed, although it will remain in state law until 90 days after the end of the 2024 legislative session. The repeal was signed by Governor Hobbs after two Republican senators- Senator Shawnna Bolick (R-Phoenix) and Senator TJ Shope (R-Coolidge) – joined Democrats to approve it in a tense voting session on Wednesday.
While the Senate Republicans, as well, approved bills to:
• Expand School Tuition Organization tax credit
• Penalize state agencies that miss financial reporting deadlines
And The Senate gave bipartisan support to bills that:
• Criminalize child enticement
• Broaden legal options for someone who is digitally impersonated
• Authorize partnerships to fight forest fires
• Certify peace officers
• Pay for emergency management assistance
The house did fail to provide support for regulation of marijuana deliveries. As well as the Senate failing to pass a bill that bans the sale, transfer, possession, or use of cannabis within a drug-free school zone.
There are not many bills left for the House and Senate to consider before they adjourn the session, the House will return to work on May 15 and the Senate May 8.
